The Contemporary Music Centre's New Music Salon Series 2007

Want to know more about new music? Meet contemporary performers and composers and hear their views? Then come along to the Contemporary Music Centre's New Music Salon Series 2007.

The first event, featuring cellist Kate Ellis, takes place, 6.30pm - 7.30pm, Thursday, 27 September 2007, in the Goethe Institute, Dublin. The series continues with Electro-Acoustic Review (EAR) New Music Ensemble on 25 October 2007 and concludes with pianist Ivan Ilic on 22 November 2007.

All events are free and are designed to introduce the newcomer to new music as well as to stimulate those already initiated! Each event takes place in an informal atmosphere in which performers and composers talk about their music and audiences are encouraged to ask questions and offer opinions.

"Now in its fifth year our salon series has gone from strength to strength and we are delighted to welcome three exceptional talents in new music for the 2007 series", says Karen Hennessy, Promotion Manager, The Contemporary Music Centre.

Kate Ellis is a freelance cellist based in Dublin who works extensively within the genres of contemporary, classical and improvised music. EAR, a Dublin-based collective of composers and performers, specialise in electroacoustic music and its interaction with instrumental music. American pianist Ivan Ilic, based in Paris, is a rising star on the Parisian music scene and is fast gaining an international reputation.

The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland's national library and promotional body for new music. The Centre is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. For the salon series the Centre acknowledges the support of the Goethe Institute in making the venue available.
