The Contemporary Music Centre's New Music Salon Series 2007 Continues

1 November 2007

Want to know more about new music? Meet contemporary performers and composers and hear their views? Then come along to the Contemporary Music Centre's New Music Salon Series 2007.

The third event in the series, featuring pianist Ivan Ilic, takes place, 6.30pm - 7.30pm, Thursday, 22 November 2007, in the Goethe-Institut, Dublin. Ivan will play Simon Mawhinney's Ribadoo, as well as excerpts of Flux; Victor Lazzarini's Silêncio: Introdução, Fuga & Passacaglia and an excerpt from Donnacha Dennehy's new solo piano piece Reservoir.

All events are free and are designed to introduce the newcomer to new music as well as to stimulate those already initiated! Each event takes place in an informal atmosphere in which performers and composers talk about their music and audiences are encouraged to ask questions and offer opinions.

"We are delighted with the positive response we have received so far with this year's series and eagerly await the forthcoming salon event with international pianist Ivan Ilic", says Karen Hennessy, Promotion Manager, The Contemporary Music Centre.

A rising star on the Parisian music scene, 28-year-old American pianist Ivan Ilic studied music and mathematics at UC Berkeley, USA, before taking a 'Premier Prix' at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris. In recent years his solo career has taken him throughout Europe. The City of Paris sponsored his last recording. Ivan's work is currently supported by the Nadia Boulanger Foundation in Paris.

The series began in September with Dublin-based cellist, Kate Ellis and continued in October with the Electro Acoustic Revue Ensemble (EAR), a Dublin-based collective of composers and performers who specialise in electroacoustic music.

The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland's national library and promotional body for new music. The Centre is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The Centre acknowledges the support of the Goethe-Institut in making the venue available for the salon series.
