Recording Label Study

The Contemporary Music Centre invites tenders for a recording label/download platform feasibility study for specialist/non-commercial musics.
The Contemporary Music Centre is commissioning a study on the feasibility of setting up an Irish recording label and/or download platform for a range of specialist/non-commercial Irish musics (contemporary, early Irish classical, jazz, electronic etc).
The feasibility study will examine the reasons behind the current lack of commercially available recordings of new music by Irish composers. It will provide recommendations for the strategic development of a label and will also examine effective ways in which existing recordings of Irish music can be best distributed.
Funded by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon the study will be carried out during 2007. A report containing the main findings and recommendations will be published and submitted to the Arts Council for consideration with a view to funding.
An advisory group with representation from the Arts Council, RTÉ and CMC will oversee the research and it is hoped that the input of these organisations will help to identify workable solutions to the issues raised.
