Celebrate Bealtaine with Music

2 May 2006

As part of The Contemporary Music Centre's 20th anniversary events the Centre opens up its doors during the Bealtaine Festival for a fun filled afternoon of music and conversation on 11 May 2006.

Irish composer and performer, Anne-marie O'Farrell, will play and talk about a number of Irish works on the Irish harp. An honours graduate of UCD, Anne-marie is a committed performer of new music and has premiered many works for the Irish harp. She has also made several albums, including Heads & Harps, Harping Bach to Carolan, and traditional Irish albums.

Anne-marie will perform some of her own work as well as Slow Air and Aisling from The Crock of Gold by Martin O'Leary; Spanish Arch by James Wilson and Impromptu by Henry Carpendale.

Visitors to the Centre will be given a guided tour around the library and sound archive, which comprises the only comprehensive collection in existence of music by modern Irish composers.

Refreshments will follow and there will be an opportunity to mingle and look at the Centre's CD shop.

Admission is free. The event begins at 2.00pm and ends at 3.30pm. Booking is recommended.
