For Immediate ReleaseNew Music - New Talent - New Trends27 March 2006 The Contemporary Music Centre (CMC) presents a marathon of new music by student composers in the Printing House, Trinity College, 2.00pm - 6.00pm, 8 April 2006. As part of the Centre's 20th anniversary celebrations, CMC brings together undergraduate and postgraduate composition and performance students from University College Dublin (UCC), University College Cork (UCC), NUI Maynooth and Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Four eclectic programmes of electro-acoustic and instrumental music will take place. Each compiled by a different curator: Wolfgang Marx (UCD); John Godfrey (UCC); Martin O'Leary (Maynooth) and Donnacha Dennehy (TCD). As well as an opportunity to hear the very latest in new music by the newest talent, there will be time for discussion during each programme and at intervals throughout the day. A reception organised by CMC will follow the event. 'CMC is delighted to be supporting the burgeoning of young talent in composition and performance in Ireland today through the provision of a platform for new work,' says Karen Hennessy, Promotion Manager, the Contemporary Music Centre. The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland's national archive and resource centre for new music supporting and developing the work of composers throughout the Republic and Northern Ireland. It engages in a programme of development work to promote new Irish music at home and abroad. The Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2006 and this event is part of a wide-ranging programme.
