Play with Music!

15 September 2005

Come create weird and wonderful sounds and coloured lights in the Contemporary Music Centre with young composers Jonathan Nangle and Frances Mitchell and their installations, Light Instrument and Meniscus.

As part of the Young Fringe the Contemporary Music Centre opens its doors from 1.00pm - 4.00pm on 24 and 25 September 2005 to children age 4 upwards and adults of all ages to play with music.

Why not try your hand at Light Instrument -- a box filled with pipes which makes music by reacting to hand gestures or Meniscus -- an interactive balloon which creates coloured lights and triggers sounds.

There is no fixed time and admission is free. All children should be accompanied by an adult. Group bookings should be made with Karen Hennessy tel: 01 673 1922 or email:
khennessy@cmc.ie

The Young Fringe is part of the Dublin Fringe Festival, 12 Sep - 2 Oct 2005. All participating artists are age 30 and under. The programme includes the very best of theatre, dance, music, live art, visual art and workshops for young people. For further information see www.fringefest.com

Speaking today about the importance of the Music Programme of the Young Fringe, Co-Director Orla Dunne says, “Music is accessible by all...it can provide people with peace or energy, excitement or ease. Every age, culture and social group can connect with music!”
