Sound Installation for Temple Bar Open Day

Dublin, 16 June 2005

The Contemporary Music Centre will host an interactive installation as part of the Temple Bar Open Day on 19 June 2005.

The installation is by Irish composer Jonathan Nangle. The staircase of the Centre's building on Fishamble Street will be wired with so that visitors will trigger electro-acoustic sound effects, on walking upstairs to the library.

Jonathan Nangle has a degree in Music and Philosophy from Trinity College Dublin, where he has also just completed a Masters in Music and Media Technology. He has studied composition with Donnacha Dennehy and Rob Canning and electro-acoustic composition with Roger Doyle and Jürgen Simpson.

The Contemporary Music Centre will be open to the public from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, 19 June, as part of the Temple Bar Open Day. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The main focus of the Temple Bar Open Day is a Treasure Hunt of Temple Bar which takes you through the winding cobbled streets that make up the cultural quarter.
