CMC's March Salon

Dublin, 25 February 2005

CMC's February Salon is linked to the upcoming RTÉ Living Music Festival.

The Contemporary Music Centre's March Salon focuses on instrumental and electro-acoustic music by undergraduate students of Trinity College Dublin.

Taking place on 5 March, it features instrumental work by Cathy Stokes, Garrett Sholdice, Nuala Greenwood, Amanda Feery and Lorraine ni Bhriain as well as electro-acoustic works by Nuala Greenwood, Ruari O' Brogain and Johnny Taylor. All composers are undergraduate students of Richard Duckworth, lecturer on the BA in Music at Trinity College, and have a keen interest in composition. Performers on the day will include Dermot Dunne, accordion and Paul Roe, clarinet, performing Garrett Sholdice's Cómo for clarinet and accordion. Pianist Mary Mc Cague will perform works by Nuala Greenwood, Amanda Feery and Lorraine ni Bhriain. Pianists Cathy Stokes and Ian Lahiffe will perform Cathy Stoke's Wednesday Afternoon. Donnacha Dennehy, composer and lecturer at Trinity College, will present the event.

The Salon takes place in Project Arts Centre on Saturday, 5 March from 3.00-4.00pm. Discussions continue informally afterwards and admission is free.
