Open Forum at CMC for Promoters of New Music

Dublin, 8 March 2004

Interested in programming new music? In finding new ways to develop interest and audiences for contemporary classical music? In finding out about the artform? Then come along to the Contemporary Music Centre’s Promoter Forum from 2.30pm – 4.30pm on Wednesday 31 March 2004.

This open forum will be an opportunity for venues, festivals, music series, arts officers and those working in PR and new music to come together and share their experiences and learn from one another. CMC will outline how it can support and help the work of individuals and organizations promoting contemporary Irish music as well as offer practical advice on new music promotion.

Invited guest speakers are Gavin O’Sullivan, Director, Hugh Lane Gallery ‘Sundays at Noon’ series; Aideen Howard, Director, Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray; Rhona Feely, Director, Boyle Arts Festival and Sarah Searson, Arts Officer, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Each will give a short presentation sharing their experiences and outlining where they have been successful and where the difficulties lie.

The forum is free of charge and open to everyone interested in new music. Why work alone when there is so much to learn from the experiences, knowledge and know-how of others?
