Press ReleaseEibhlis Farrell Interview by Dr Ita BeausangDublin, 3 July 2003 The next in CMC’s series of Birthday Interviews takes place on Tuesday 22 July 2003. Composer Eibhlis Farrell, who celebrates her fiftieth birthday this year, will be in conversation about her music and her academic and teaching activities with musicologist Dr Ita Beausang. Eibhlis Farrell is from Rostrevor in Co. Down and studied composition with Raymond Warren, Charles Wuorinen and Robert Moevs. She is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast and Bristol University, and has a doctorate from Rutgers University, New Jersey. Her works cover a wide range of media and have been performed and broadcast throughout Europe and America. She has represented Ireland at the International Rostrum of Composers. In 2000 she was guest composer for the Anna Livia International Opera Festival in Dublin and Tufts University/New England Conservatory International Composers' Conference in Talloires, France. Eibhlis Farrell is currently Head of Humanities at the Dundalk Institute of Technology. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts and a member of Aosdána, Ireland’s state-sponsored academy of creative artists.
