Press ReleaseMidi Systems and Music Composition DemonstrationDublin, 14 January 2003 This talk from 6.30 – 7.30 on Tuesday 28 January by David Carugo will outline how Midi systems work and how they can be used to aid the process of music composition. It will demonstrate how Midi systems can be used to refine a piece of music while it is being scored for multiple parts, and show how to integrate electronic music into a composition using advanced Midi/Audio systems. Having graduated from the University of Limerick with an M.Sc. degree in 2000, David Carugo currently manages the Music Technology facilities at UL’s Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. He also teaches music technology and acoustics at UL. David has engineered/produced many recordings ranging from choral to country to rock and is active as a performing musician. He has managed the technical aspects of live multi-media productions with a number of performance artists and composers. David is a member of the Audio Engineering Society and has recently had some of his acoustics research published.
