Promotion and Presentation of New Music Morning and Afternoon Seminar

The Contemporary Music Cente is very pleased to announce the first all day event of its very successful monthly events programme.

On 24 February 2003 a morning and afternoon seminar will take place in the CMC library on the Promotion and Presentation of New Music.

The morning seminar will look at how new music is presented in Ireland and the many different factors that impact on the performance of new music, including; promoters, audiences, performers, venues, programme, conductors, the media, education amongst others. Guest Speakers include Nicola le Fanu, composer; Niall Doyle, Director, RTE Music; Celso Antunes, Director/Conductor, National Chamber Choir; Deirdre McCrea, Acting Director, Music Network with Eve O’Kelly, Director, CMC as Chairperson.

Following a light lunch provided by CMC, the afternoon seminar facilitated by Nicola le Fanu, composer and Eve O’Kelly, Director CMC, will explore what composers can do to promote their work This seminar will give practical advice and tips to composers as well as discuss the promotional work of CMC and CMC’s new library and website services. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers and to share experiences.
