Up North! is a major new festival of Irish and Nordic music, the first of its kind in Ireland. It is a true collaboration between Irish and Nordic performers and composers, presented by the Crash Ensemble and Network North, the cultural project of the Nordic Council of Ministers. Over the course of four days, 4 – 8 December 2002, a total of 51 works will be performed, including 13 world premieres and 9 commissions, 4 of which are Irish and 5 Nordic. CMC is very pleased to be able to support this unique event through sponsoring this talks series.

“With an emphasis on multi-media works and a particular focus on music by the younger generation of composers, Up North! covers an amazing opportunity to sample the works of some of the exciting rising stars of composition,” says festival director, Fergus Sheil.

Up North! is jointly funded by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and Network North, the cultural project of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
