Sound and Vision Project

A Contemporary Music Centre and Context Gallery Collaboration

Dublin, 19 February 2002

CMC and the Context Gallery would like to hear from composers who are interested in collaborating with a visual artist on a site-specific sound/visual exhibition/installation for the Context Gallery to be held February 2003.

The deadline for proposals is 30th May 2002.

Proposals are welcome from:

  1. Composers who have already worked with a named visual artist with whom they would like to collaborate again.
  2. Composers who would like to work with a named visual artist by whom they have been influenced or whose work interests them.
  3. Composers who are open to collaborating with a visual artist without naming any specific artist.

In addition to the gallery space, approx 850ft sq., work could also be created for the entrance passage way and other rooms within the Playhouse building.

The dance/choreography group “Echo Echo” based at the Playhouse will also be available to contribute to any performance-based aspect of the project, both in the gallery itself, and in the theatre and dance studio within the Playhouse.

The Context Gallery, situated within the Playhouse, Derry, was established in 1993. The Gallery organises 12 exhibitions per year, solo, group and theme, as well as several public art projects.
