Bill Whelan's The Currach Performed in Celbridge, Co. Kildares

Irish pianist Cliodna Shanahan performs Bill Whelan's The Currach at Castletown House, Celbridge, Co. Kildare on 1 June.

The Currach was recently published by CMC in Piano Album VI, an album of specially-written pieces for the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition. It will be performed as part of a full length recital by Shanahan.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Cliodna Shanahan is originally from Limerick and began learning piano at the age of five. She attended the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, UK from 1997-2002 and is currently based in London. As a result of being awarded the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition's Foley Bursary, Shanahan has recently completed a six-date tour of Ireland, during which she performed The Currach in recitals in Limerick and Kilkenny.
