London's Wigmore Hall presents a day-long celebration of composer Kevin Volans' 60th birthday.

Featuring an interview and film as well as concerts, the day explores Volans' music, much of it coloured by his South African upbringing.

Taking place on the afternoon and evening of Saturday, 31 October 2009, it features the Smith Quartet with soloists Jonny Axelsson (percussion), Garth Knox (viola) and the composer himself (piano) in a range of his works. There will also be an interview and a screening of the film, Plane Song, by director Deborah May.
