RTÉ - Culture Night 2009

Culture Night logo

RTÉ performances on Culture Night include works by Donnacha Dennehy.

Three events, taking place at the National Concert Hall and the National Gallery, feature the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Cór na nÓg and organist Mark Duley.

RTÉ's children's choir, Cór na nÓg, begins the night in the National Gallery of Ireland at 6.30pm. Three free 20-minute concerts include repertoire ranging from rousing African songs and a Spanish hymn to traditional Irish favourites.

In the National Concert Hall at the same time, RTÉ presents leading organist Mark Duley in a 30-minute solo recital featuring the famous Widor Toccata, a work by Donnacha Dennehy and music by Bach and Franck.

At 7.00pm, Soundings: In conversation at the NCH features Donnacha Dennehy with television producer/director David McKenna.

Following this, at 8.00pm, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra gives the premiere of Dennehy's new work, Crane, in a programme which also includes Elaine Clark in Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto.

Booking: 01-417 0000.
