Czech and Romanian Premieres Irish works feature in performances in Prague and Arad this month. The Prague Premieres Festival features a number of Irish works alongside music from other EU countries. Gráinne Mulvey’s Akanos will be performed by the Hradec Kralove Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor A. S Weiser on 14 March, while on 18 March, the Prague Chamber orchestra and Prague Singers perform David Flynn’s Echoes of Bamako and Eric Sweeney’s Niamh of the Golden Hair. On 21 March, John Kinsella’s Prelude and Toccata for wind ensemble, David Fennessy’s This is how it feels (Another Bolero) and Piers Hellawell’s Maquette receive performances from the Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia with conductor Stanislav Vavrinek, and the Prague Castle Guard and Czech Police Symphonic Band. Also taking place in the same week are performances of works by Ed Bennett, John F. Larchet, Frederick May and A. J.
