Power Commissioned by Scaw

Karen Power
Karen Power

Composer Karen Power is writing three short pieces for the British duo, Scaw.

Scaw, a Nottingham-based duo specializing in contemporary music, are Sarah Watts (bass clarinet) and Antony Clare (piano). They founded the duo in 2003 and have since performed around the UK and at the World Bass Clarinet Convention in Holland.

They have given UK and world premieres of many works written specially for them and their versatile repertoire includes music for bass clarinet and harpsichord as well as pieces that use electronics.

Power’s commission, for bass clarinet, piano and electronics, comes from RTÉ lyric fm and will be premiered as part of an Irish tour in early March 2010, with a UK tour later in the year.
