Norby Dance Work

Christopher Norby
Christopher Norby

A new collaborative work involving composer Christopher Norby and members of Open Space Dance Company receives two performances in May.

The work, entitled Bild Lili, is the debut collaboration between the composer and choreographer Oona Doherty. The movement takes its stimulus from the look and construction of different types of dolls, while the music aims to create an emotional context which compliments the characters created by the dancers. The score is written for seven musicians and will be conducted by Christopher Norby. The piece will be danced by Janie Doherty, Bridget Madden and Kelly Quigley.

Bild Lili forms part of an evening of contemporary dance with new choreographies from lecturers and final year students of dance on the dance programme at the University of Ulster, Magee.

Performances take place on 12 May at 8.00pm in the Old Museum Arts Centre, Belfast and on 14 May at 8.00pm in The Playhouse, Derry.
