CMC is very pleased to welcome Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin and Fergus Sheil as new members of its board.

Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin Prof. Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin is inaugural Chair of Music and Founder/Director of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. Noted for his development of a uniquely Irish traditional piano style, he has recorded extensively with the Irish Chamber Orchestra (resident at the Irish World Academy). With many recordings and publications to his name, in 2005 he was awarded an Honorary D.Mus from the National University of Ireland at his alma mater, University College Cork, for his contribution to music in Ireland over the past thirty years. He is also Chair of the board of Culture Ireland.
Fergus Sheil

Fergus Sheil is an Irish conductor who has worked with all of the main orchestras and opera companies in Ireland. He has appeared with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Opera Ireland, Opera Theatre Company, Lyric Opera Productions and many other groups. He is especially interested in contemporary music having conducted numerous premieres in collaboration with Irish and international composers. A former director of Crash Ensembe, Fergus Sheil also acted as Music Specialist Advisor to The Arts Council from 2004-2007.

In welcoming the new board members, CMC acknowledges with gratitude the contribution of retiring board members Lucy Champion, Tim O’Driscoll and Dr Eric Sweeney. Their commitment of time and energy throughout their terms of office has been a huge support to the Centre.
