Nangle Rostrum Success
Congratulations to Jonathan Nangle, whose work for bass clarinet and electronics, our headlights blew softly into the black, illuminating very little, has been selected as one of only two recommended works in the under-30 category at the International Rostrum of Composers in Paris. The work was performed by Irish clarinettist Deirdre O'Leary at Crash Ensemble's 'Free State' concert last year and recorded by RTÉ lyric fm. The International Rostrum of Composers is an annual gathering of radio networks from four continents. As a result of this success, Nangle's work will receive multiple broadcasts and performances in the member countries over the coming year. The other Irish pieces submitted (Elaine Agnew's Make a Wish and Jürgen Simpson's Sigilum) were well received and should receive good airplay as a result. All three works will be broadcast on RTÉ lyric fm over the course of two Nova programmes (Sunday 21 June, 8.30pm & Sunday 5 July, 8.30pm) and the Contemporary Concert on Wednesday 1 July, 8.30pm. For further information on all the works, visit RTÉ lyric fm. Posted: 24 June 2009
