McGlynn Concert with the NSO
Anúna and the NSO perform a full concert of works by Michael McGlynn in Dublin on 17 July. The concert, in the National Concert Hall, coincides with the release of a new album, Sanctus, which features a number of original spiritual works by McGlynn, and also the release of a DVD, Invocations, by his choral group, Anúna. The heavenly, ethereal sound of Anúna has won them admirers worldwide. This first collaboration between Anúna and the NSO features sections from Behind the Closed Eye, including new versions for symphony orchestra and Anúna of The Great Wood, The Coming of Winter and Twilight. Also included will be a new piece based on material from his 'St Francis' cantata, The Song of the Birds. This is the first time that any of the orchestral sections of Behind the Closed Eye have been heard in the Republic of Ireland, and the first time that the NSO will have performed any of McGlynn's music. It promises to be a unique celebration. Further information and booking from the National Concert Hall. Posted: 24 June 2009
