Kronos Quartet Concert

The Kronos Quartet and Wu Man are to give two Irish premieres in Dundalk in July.

First public performances in Ireland of Tan Dun's Ghost Opera and Terry Riley's Cusp of Magic are to be given by the leading American string ensemble, The Kronos Quartet, and Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man at Dundalk's An Tain Theatre on Monday 13 July.

Both works weave traditional Chinese idioms into forms and structures more usually associated with European art music, with Cusp of Magic having been commissioned by The Kronos Quartet to mark Terry Riley's 70th birthday in 2005.

The concert is presented by Louth Contemporary Music Society and is funded by The Arts Council, Dundalk Arts Office, Louth Arts Office and Fáilte Ireland.
