First International Conference on Irish Music and Musicians

The First International Conference on Irish Music and Musicians takes place at the University of Durham in July 2010.

The conference is being run in conjuction with a three-year research project on Irish music being carried out at the University of Durham by Prof Jeremy Dibble, Dr Patrick Zuk and Dr Alasdair Jamieson. The keynote speakers at the conference will be Nicholas Temperley, Professor Emeritus of Musicology at the University of Illinois, and Harry White, Professor of Music at University College, Dublin. The programme of events will include vocal and chamber music recitals featuring a wide range of music by Irish composers, which will be presented as part of a mini-festival of Irish music.

Proposals are invited for papers, lecture-recitals and panels. Abstracts of 250 words, accompanied by a professional resumé, should be sent to Patrick Zuk by 1 December 2009, email patrick.zuk@durham.ac.uk
