A short history of Grúpat

What's it like to be Ukeoirn O'Connor?

An installation featuring the work of experimental sound art collective, Grúpat, takes place from 11 - 14 February at the Project Arts Centre.

In what is the first major Irish retrospective for the South Dublin based collective, the installation consists of music, sound poetry, fashion, photography, objects and performance.

The show will feature sound installations from Grúpat members O'Brien Industries, Bulletin M and The Parks Service; silent musical film and self-built instruments by Turf Boon; graphic scores by Flor Hartigan and Ukeoirn O'Connor; sonic reliquaries by outsider artist Violetta Mahon, and the sonic flaneur costumes of drag artist The Dowager Marchylove.

Curated by composer Jennifer Walshe, the installation was coordinated by her as part of her 2008 residency with South Dublin County Council's In Context 3 programme.
