The premiere of a new work by Ciaran Farrell takes place on 1 September.

Spirit of the Sea, commissioned and presented by RTÉ Performing Groups, will be played by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, conducted by David Brophy.

Works by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Puccini and Verdi amongst others also feature in the programme, highlights from which will be broadcast the following day on RTÉ lyric fm's In Tempo programme (9.00-11.00am).

The concert takes place in the main auditorium of the National Concert Hall in Dublin on Tuesday, 1 September 2009 at 1.00pm, presented by Evelyn Cockburn.
