Dowling's Musical Postcard

Fergal Dowling
Fergal Dowling

A 'musical postcard' by Fergal Dowling will be performed by the British ensemble notes inégales on 6 September.

He is among six composers shortlisted by the new British organization Sound and Music who have been selected to provide these musical 'postcards' around the theme of 'shuffle', 'swing', or 'notes inégales'.

The pieces will be performed at the Kings Place Festival in London by the innovative notes inégales ensemble which is led by composer Peter Wiegold.

The project was initiated when Sound and Music invited composers to propose musical concepts or 'postcards' as starting points, offering material of an open kind that could be used improvisationally with the group. Fergal will perform at the computer with the ensemble.

The performance takes place at Kings Place, London on Sunday, 6 September 2009 and is repeated at 14:30, 15:45 and17:00.
