San Francisco Performance for Dennehy

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players have commissioned a new work from Donnacha Dennehy.

The premiere takes place on Monday, 2 November 2009 at the Herbst Theatre, San Francisco, in a concert which includes works by Philippe Leroux (De la texture, 2007, commission) and Ronald Bruce Smith (Five pieces for guitar and electronics, 2007). The performance also features the premiere of a commission for voice from Ken Ueno, performed by the composer himself.

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players perform innovative new music to audiences throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Now in its thirty-eighth year, the ensemble has performed more than 1100 contemporary works, including 66 US premieres and 135 world premieres. It is a ten-time winner of the national ASCAP/Chamber Music America Award for adventurous programming of contemporary music.
