Cork International Choral Festival 2009

image from the Cork Choral Festival

This year's Cork International Choral Festival runs from 29 April to 3 May.

Special features are the opening gala concert on 29 April, with a performance of Ralph Vaughan William’s A Sea Symphony by the Cork Symphony Orchestra together with the Harlow Chorus, Nyle Wolfe (baritone) and Mary Hegarty (soprano).

The rest of the week sees Finnish ensemble Club for Five combine jazz, pop, rock, and even classical, all without a single musical instrument, in the Thursday night gala. The National Chamber Choir of Ireland returns to the festival by popular demand in the first of the Friday evening Cathedral Concerts, and German ensemble Singer Pur take the late night slot for the North Cathedral’s Evocations.

During the week over 100 choirs from across Ireland and the globe will be on stage in the City Hall.

Tickets are now on sale from the Box Office of the Everyman Palace Theatre, 15 MacCurtain Street, Cork, tel. 021-450 1673 or book online.
