CMC's Making Music, Striking Sounds
CMC is running an interactive music workshop for grandparents and grandchildren on 16 May as part of the Bealtaine festival. Bealtaine, the annual national festival celebrating creativity in older age, includes events organised by hundreds of partner organisations throughout the month of May. CMC's contribution, following successful events in the last three years, takes the form of a music workshop with composer Kevin O'Connell. This year it is designed for grandparents and grandchildren—or grandnieces and grandnephews, or indeed any older adults bringing children in the age range 7-10. The idea is to encourage interaction between the generations and introduce music as a stimulating and fun area in which older and younger people can interchange skills and experience. The event takes place at the Contemporary Music Centre on Saturday 16 May 2009, 11.00am - 1.00pm. No musical experience is required. Admission is free but booking is required. Please note that the event takes place on the first floor and access is by stairs only. The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland's national archive and resource centre for new music.
