Running Beast

Michael Holohan
Michael Holohan

Michael Holohan's Running Beast, a music-theatre portrait of Hugh O’Neill, Earl of Tyrone, is performed on 11 May.

Written by Michael Holohan and Donal O’Kelly to mark the 400th anniversary of the Flight of the Earls into exile in 1607 following a failed revolt against Tudor rule in Ireland, Running Beast can be seen at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on 11 May at 8.00pm.

Participating musicians in the production include Michael Holohan on keyboards, percussionist Robbie Harris, bass player Dan Bodwell, Mick O’Brien on uilleann pipes, a string quartet comprising Máire Breatnach, Steve Larkin, Simone Mendonça and Diane O’Keeffe, and the Orchestra of Saint Cecilia.
