The Quiet Music Festival

A new experimental music festival takes place in Cork from 29 June to 6 July.

The Quiet Music Festival will incorporate the launch of new Experimental Music group, the Quiet Music Ensemble.

One of the highlights of the week will be the 18th Annual Deep Listening Retreat facilitated by Pauline Oliveros, Ione and Heloise Gold. Deep Listening is an approach to sound, listening and performance developed by composer, performer and theorist Pauline Oliveros.

The festival will include performances at Triskel Arts Centre on 2, 3 and 4 July, followed on the 5th by Sssh!, a day of performances at the Glucksman Gallery. Sssh! features brand new music by composers such as Alvin Lucier, Mark Appelbaum and David Toop, one of Pauline Oliveros' legendary solo performances, as well as improvisation, film and dance.

For further details on the festival, please see www.quietmusicensemble.com.
