New Music Alive
CMC is running a series of music workshops in Dublin city schools across this autumn and winter. In response to an open call for applications assessed by a panel of judges, composer Peter Moran has been selected as facilitator. He will run a series of workshops with primary age children in St Enda's National School, Whitefriar Street, and Scoil Caitríona CBS, Baggot Street, designed to bring new music into the classroom and raise awareness of Irish composers and their music. In addition to the workshop element, Peter will devise and test a schools pack which will be available afterwards in the Education and Outreach section of CMC's web site. It is hoped this will enable and encourage teachers to use contemporary music in their classrooms. Peter Moran is an experienced workshop facilitator and music director of CoMA Yorkshire. He is currently completing a PhD in Composition at York University. New Music Alive is funded by Dublin City Council Arts Grants. Posted: 23 September 2008
