New Deirdre Gribbin Opera
A new opera by Deirdre Gribbin is to be performed in London in July. The opera, which is directed by Lou Stein, take place in Wilton's Music Hall on 3, 4 and 5 July 2008 as part of the China Now Festival, the UK's largest ever Festival of Chinese culture. The work tells the story of a woman who never forgets the memory of her lover who has been lost to war. This production makes use of dance, film and Chinese Tang poetry, and also features Eight Colours by composer Tan Dun, who is probably best known for his music in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The performers include Alison Wells, mezzo-soprano, and the Smith Quartet. Crossing the Sea takes place in Wilton's Music Hall, Graces Alley, Off Ensign Street, London E1.
