New Music Marathon in Maynooth

CMC in conjunction with NUI Maynooth Music Department presents a marathon of new music by student composers in Maynooth on 19 April.

NUI Maynooth is hosting the day-long event during which composition students from universities around Ireland will have their music performed.

This is the third new music marathon for student composers organised by CMC, and composition students from NUI Maynooth, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, University of Limerick, Queens’ University Belfast, Dundalk Institute of Technology and Waterford Institute of Technology are all taking part.

As well as showcasing the best in up-and-coming compositional talent by undergraduate and postgraduate students, the day will also provide a valuable opportunity for young composers to hear the music being produced by their peers in other colleges around Ireland and to informally network with each other throughout the day.

The performances will take place from 2pm to 6pm at Logic House on the South Campus of NUI Maynooth.

For more information please contact Aoife FitzPatrick, Promotion and Administrative Assistant, The Contemporary Music Centre, Tel: 01-673 1922 or email afitzpatrick@cmc.ie.

CMC's 2008 events are supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon. CMC would also like to acknowledge the support of the Department of Music, NUI Maynooth for hosting this year's platform.
