American Premiere and a Commission for Vincent Kennedy
Vincent Kennedy conducts three of his own works in the United States in March and April. Originally written to mark the 25th anniversary of the Rathfarnham Concert Band Society in 2005, What’s a heaven for? will receive its first performance in North America on Sunday 13 April in a concert at the Hofmann Theatre, Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California. Vincent Kennedy will conduct the Contra Costa Wind Symphony as part of an Irish-themed concert. Prior to the concert, on Thursday 10 April, Vincent Kennedy will conduct two of his other works – Elegy for A Friend and Serendipity – at the Bohemian Club in San Francisco. Vincent Kennedy has also been commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs to write a five-minute work to commemorate Europe Day on Friday 9 May.
