2008 ISCM World Music Days Festival

Gráinne Mulvey
Gráinne Mulvey

Gráinne Mulvey’s Akanos has been selected for performance at the 2008 ISCM World Music Days Festival.

The festival takes place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 24 October to 8 November 2008 and is organised by the Lithuanian Composers’ Union, the Vilnius Festivals and the Lithuanian branch of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM).

The festival organisers invited composers from all over the world to submit pieces underlining the festival theme of exploring contemporary music as a period of progression.

Akanos by Gráinne Mulvey, which also features on CMC's latest CD release, will be performed by the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robertas Šervenikas on 25 October at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall in a programme which also includes music by Raminta Šerkšnyté (Lithuania), Mirjam Tally (Estonia) and Heiner Goebbels (Germany).

For a full list of the selected works and for a detailed program of the festival please see www.wmd2008.org/en/home.
