International Rostrum of Composers CMC hosts an open evening for delegates attending the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in June. The International Rostrum of Composers is organised to facilitate the exchange of contemporary music for broadcast on radio around the world. The event, which will take place from 9 to 13 June 2008, will be held in Dublin for the first time by RTÉ lyric fm. The Contemporary Music Centre will host an informal reception for the Rostrum delegates and CMC's users on 11 June at 6pm. The evening will offer an excellent opportunity both for CMC and Irish composers to make an impression on the international radio community, and to informally network with each other. Over 30 national radio networks participate in the Rostrum, presenting a number of works which are listened to by an assembly of delegates. The delegates then select the most important works in two categories: general, and young composers. The selected works are then presented in concerts and on radio broadcasts by the participating radio networks. Furthermore, all works presented during the Rostrum are made available by the European Broadcasting Union to its network of members. For more information on attending the evening on 11 June, please contact Aoife FitzPatrick, Promotion Officer, The Contemporary Music Centre, 19 Fishamble Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 8, telephone 01 673 1922, or email afitzpatrick@cmc.ie.
