ICMA Conference to Include Performances of New Irish Music Six Irish composers are to have works played at the International Computer Music Association Conference in Belfast in August.
Hosted by the annual electronic and electro-acoustic new music festival, Sonorities, the Conference takes place during 24-29 August and includes concerts alongside a programme of panel discussions, workshops, demonstrations and social events. Karen Power’s just one girl playin’ around and Whitewater by Scott McLaughlin can be heard in the conference’s opening concert at the Whitla Hall, Queen’s University, Belfast at 7pm on Sunday 24 August. A lunchtime concert, in the university’s Sonic Lab on Monday 25 August includes Piano Accord by Donal Sarsfield and begins at 12.15pm. An evening concert in the Whitla Hall at 7pm the same day will feature Ricardo Climent’s Russian Disco. Paul Wilson’s Trapped in Ice features in a late-night programme beginning at 10pm on Wednesday 27 August. On the final day, Friday 29 August Fergal Dowling's Manchester Material will feature in the Harty Room between 9am and 6pm.
