Japanese Showcase for David Fennessy

David Fennessy
David Fennessy

A month-long residency in Tokyo will culminate in a concert dedicated to the music of David Fennessy.

As the 2008 Creator-in-Residence with the Tokyo Wonder Site, a project founded in 2001 to encourage and support emerging talent, David Fennessy will spend four weeks in Tokyo working with young Japanese musicians.

Nominated for the position by the Frankfurt-based Ensemble Modern, Fennessy’s tenure will conclude with a concert of his music titled The Room is the Resonator on Thursday 10 April at 8pm.

The concert will include the first screening of a film by German director David Jahn based on Fennessy’s electro-acoustic Crying on the inside (laughing on the outside) and a live performance of gut, hair, skin, air for percussion, violin, cello and amplified viola.
