Radio Latvia is to broadcast the premiere of a new work for solo piano by Ciarán Farrell.

Commissioned by American arts patron Tom Ayers, Proverbs is a five-movement work written to accompany a series of paintings offering reflections and meditations on biblical proverbs.

Recorded by pianist Darina Gibson, the work will be broadcast on Radio Latvia 3 on Friday 19 December at 8.15pm Irish time and can be heard via an internet live stream at klasika.latvijasradio.lv/ and, afterwards, through the station's listen-again service.

The transmission follows two earlier interviews with Farrell on the station.
