New Innovative Commission for Ciarán Farrell

Ciarán Farrell
Ciarán Farrell

Ciarán Farrell has received a commission to compose a new work for piano to accompany an exhibition of new paintings.

The five-movement work will offer a series of meditations and reflections on Biblical proverbs chosen by Washington, DC-based patron and philanthropist Tom Ayers and is intended to accompany a series of 20 specially commissioned paintings.

Ciarán Farrell’s contribution will be one of several co-existing with the exhibition and be heard alongside artworks by a number of artists from the Washington area including John Berkey, Brad Holland, Margaret Gregory and Barbara Lorei.

‘The work will be performed live and in situ, and there’s an openness to this project which I like,’ says Farrell. ‘It’s a very interesting and refreshing commission.’

Details of soloist and exhibition venue will be released at a later date.
