Art of Sound Exhibition at Waterford New Music Week
CMC's exhibition, The Art of Sound, is on show at the Garter Lane Gallery, Waterford from 23 January to 29 February. The multimedia exhibition, which is on display as part of Waterford New Music Week (3-8 February), gives an insight into the creative processes behind the work of some Irish composers. Featuring photos by Eugene Langan and commentary by Eamonn Lawlor of RTÉ lyric fm, the exhibition was unveiled on 23 January to coincide with the official launch of Waterford New Music Week festival. As part of festival, fourth year music students from Waterford Institute of Technology will present a discussion about the Art of Sound on Monday, 4 February at 11am in the Garter Lane Arts Centre. The talk will 'explore the value of the visual imagery used by Irish contemporary composers, focusing on the compositions of Barry Guy and Jennifer Walshe, and the overall impact that this touring exhibition has on the public's experience of Irish contemporary music.' The Art of Sound exhibition runs until 29 February at Garter Lane Gallery, Waterford. Waterford New Music Week runs from 3 to 8 February.
