New CD of Music by Benjamin Dwyer

Benjamin Dwyer
Benjamin Dwyer

A new CD of music by Benjamin Dwyer's music has been released.

The CD features his Twelve Études for guitar performed by the composer and is available to order from the CMC Shop and the composer's web site. Begun in 1996, completed in 2003 and revised in 2006, the études are arranged into four books, all 'in some degree informed by two motives: a descending three-note figure in semitones (or its ascending opposite, or even a fragment or extension of it), and the interval of the perfect fifth (or its inversion)'. The recording was launched at the Royal Irish Academy of Irish Music in December.

Benjamin Dwyer will also perform his own Guitar Concerto No.1 with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on Tuesday 27 January in an RTÉ Horizons Concert conducted by Gavin Maloney. The concert begins at 1.05 pm and also includes a pre-concert talk with Benjamin Dwyer at 12.30pm. The programme also includes Dwyer's Rajas, Sattva, Tamas (featuring soloist Richard O'Donnell) and Raymond Deane's Embers.

To order a copy of the CD, please visit our CD Shop.
