Dublin Handel Festival 2008
The 2008 Dublin Handel Festival takes place from 13-18 April. Now in its third year and looking forward to the 250th anniversary of Handel’s death in 2009, the Dublin Handel Festival this year celebrates the composer’s historic links with the Old City area of Temple Bar and will run from Sunday 13 April to Friday 18 April at various locations. The six-day event features free concerts, interactive activities, family events and a talk by Professor Barra Boydell. The festival will also include the world premiere performance of Benjamin Dwyer’s Praeludio, a work for violin, bass and harpsichord commissioned by the Temple Bar Cultural Trust. It will be heard alongside music by Handel, Bach and Biber in a concert featuring Maya Homburger (violin), Barry Guy (bass) and David Adams (harpsichord) in St Audoen's Church, Cornmarket on Tuesday 15 April at 6pm.
