The City of Derry Guitar Festival will see composition workshops with two Irish composers.

The festival, which takes place from 21st-26th August, provides a platform for various types of guitar music, and gives performers and composers equal opportunities for development over the duration of the festival.

Friday 22nd August will see the world premiere of a new guitar piece by Ian Wilson, entitled Strenlos. The piece is commissioned by CDGF and will be performed at the Great Hall at the Magee campus of the University of Ulster by guitarist, Graham Devine. The composer will present a composition workshop as part of the festival.

Frank Lyons will run a composition workshop from 23rd-26th August. Composers will work alongside Brian Keenan, a guitarist and specialist in performing new music.
