CMC Celebrates Culture Night 2008

Culture night logo

CMC is taking part in Culture Night on Friday 19 September with a number of interactive sound installations from young Irish composers.

Culture Night is an intiative, which began in 2006, led by Temple Bar Cultural Trust in association with the Council of National Cultural Institutions and supported by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism, to provide a new and imaginative route for people of all ages to connect with the arts and cultural life of the city.

Since then Culture Night has grown to include over 100 of the city's arts and cultural organisations all of which are presenting their very own free events programme for young and old. The event is expected to attract in excess of 100,000 people this year. This year Culture Night is also spreading nationwide to Cork, Galway and Limerick.

As part of the citywide activities for Culture Night CMC presents InterPlay, an exhibition of interactive sound installations created by Jonathan Nangle, Sean Reed and Brian Solon. The Centre will open its doors from 6pm to 11pm. Bring the whole family along to create your own unique music using double pendulums, receive a personal reading from an oracle, or lose yourself in an audiovisual work of art.
