Concorde to Perform New Music from Mexico

Concorde
Concorde

Contemporary music from Mexico features in two concerts by new music ensemble Concorde.

The concerts will include nine Irish premieres and one world premiere of music by nine living composers and are intended to illustrate 'a wide range of styles and an impressive breadth of talent emerging in recent years' from Mexico.

The world premiere of the Concorde-commissioned Angulos by Alejandro Castanos (whose previous work for the Jane O'Leary-led group was Riflesso) will feature in the first concert, in the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin, on Sunday 18 January. Castanos will be in attendance at the concert to introduce the work in a programme that will also include music by Georgina Derbez, Javier Álvarez, Gonzalo Macías and Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez.

The second concert, in the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, on Sunday 15 February, will include music by José Luis Hurtado, Ana Lara, Gabriela Ortiz, Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez, and Jorge Torres-Sáenz.

Both concerts begin at 3pm, and admission is free. For further details, please see our calendar.
