Concorde in Slovenia
Contemporary music group Concorde travels to Slovenia in May as part of an ensemble exchange. The ensemble will present a programme featuring mainly Irish works at the Unicum festival of contemporary music in Llubljana, Slovenia on 10 May. Slovenia holds the current Presidency of the European Union and the theme of this year's festival is "A Look Around Europe". The group will perform works by a number of Irish composers including Frank Corcoran, Stephen Gardner, and Elaine Agnew. A recent ensemble piece by Jane O'Leary, Sunshowers, will also be performed, along with a trio for accordion, violin and cello by the young Slovenian composer Nina Senk. The ensemble MD7 from Slovenia completes the exchange with Concorde when they travel to Dublin for a concert at the Hugh Lane Gallery on Sunday, 18 May, where they will perform works by Slovenian composers Pavel Mihelcic and Lojze Lebic, Italian composer Corrado Rojac, and Grant Davidson Ford.
